Since 1966, The Oakridge Optimist Baseball Association has been operated by The Optimist Club of Oakridge Acres Inc. Our baseball program is one of two sporting programs offered by the Optimist Club which also includes soccer. The Oakridge Optimist Baseball Executive is a board of dedicated people comprised mainly of volunteers from the Oakridge community who believe in the development of youth within the sport of baseball. 2011 Larry Fisher “Coach of the Year” Award goes to John Parent.
John began his coaching in the Oakridge House League program. When Oakridge decided to start a select program, John stepped up as an assistant the first year before taking over the team as the Head coach the following season. Over the past 3 seasons (2 as Head Coach of Mosquito Select & PeeWee Select Head Coach), John has helped Oakridge build a strong Select program that both the players and the organization can be proud of.
Every year the Oakridge Optimist Baseball Board receives praise from parents and request from players to once again play for Coach John Parent.
