2011 Larry Fisher “Coach of the Year” Award goes to John Parent.

Coach of the YearJohn began his coaching in the Oakridge House League program. When Oakridge decided to start a select program, John stepped up as an assistant the first year before taking over the team as the Head coach the following season. Over the past 3 seasons (2 as Head Coach of Mosquito Select & PeeWee Select Head Coach), John has helped Oakridge build a strong Select program that both the players and the organization can be proud of.

Every year the Oakridge Optimist Baseball Board receives praise from parents and request from players to once again play for Coach John Parent.

Larry Fisher coached many years for Oakridge Optimist Baseball and in doing so drew the attention of many as an exemplary coach. In memory of Larry and his contributions to coaching, The Oakridge Optimist Baseball Association created the Larry Fisher "Coach of the Year" award. The Larry Fisher “Coach of the Year” Award is an award presented to an Oakridge Optimist Baseball Association coach by the Executive Committee on an annual basis. From year to year nominations are welcomed and considered when selecting our recipient.
