Congratulations to the Oakridge #1 Pee Wee Team

Pee Wee "A" division House League Champs
The Oakridge #1 Pee Wee team captured the "A" division House League championship with a thrilling 7-6 victory over Byron #1 in the final played on August 8th. Oakridge 1 entered the year end tournament as the number 3 seed and defeated Strathroy twice; St. Thomas Formet and St. Thomas Yurek to get to the final. In the final game.
Byron got out to a quick 5-0 lead but on the strength of some timely hitting, great defence and strong pitching Oakridge entered the last inning with a 7-5 lead. Byron pulled within one at 7-6 and had runners on second and third with no one out. Pitcher Jake Price then got a strikeout, an infield pop fly and made a terrific play on a line drive back to the mound to throw out the Byron player at first to hand Oakridge their first ever "A" Pee Wee House League crown.
Coaches John MacFarlane and Keith Harasyn felt the club peaked at the right time. The group was a mix of players who had several years experience and some newcomers. The team philosophy all year was to be aggressive as possible when running the bases and on several occasions throughout the year the team literally "stole" some victories. The hitting, pitching and defense clicked in at the final tournament as in the four round-robin games Oakridge won each game by the "mercy" rule, even scoring 20 runs in one five inning game. The team worked extremely hard all year and their hard work was rewarded in the final with the league title.
